抄録

We report the first example of the characterization of a Ru-based peroxide intermediate of O₂-promoted activation of a C-H bond of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl (Cp∗) ligand. The peroxide complex activates the C-H bond to form a tetramethylfulvene complex. We propose a proton-coupled electron-transfer (PCET) mechanism of the C-H bond activation based on the structures and properties of the peroxide and tetramethylfulvene complexes.
