Renal gauzeoma: A case report

We report a case of gauzeoma with adhesion to the upper pole of the right kidney. A 65-year-old woman, who had undergone right nephropexy under the diagnosis of right floating kidney 35 years earlier, was referred to us for a right renal mass incidentally found on abdominal ultrasonography. Because it was difficult to rule out a renal malignant tumor, right nephrectomy was performed. The tumor was found to be a renal gauzeoma. Gauzeoma should be under consideration as a possibility, whenever an unknown mass is found in patients who have previously undergone abdominal surgery.
