Relaxation Times of Polymer Solutions in the Semidilute Region for Zero-Shear Viscosity

抄録

Relaxation times τw and τ0 of polymer solutions in the semidilute region for the zero-shear viscosity η0 were studied in good and θ solvents. Here, τw is the weight-average relaxation time evaluated from the product of η° and the steady-state compliance Je, and τ0 is the relaxation time specifying shear rate dependence of viscosity. It is found that τ0 is proportional to τw regardless of concentration and solvent power, and the concentration and molecular weight dependences” of both relaxation times can be well understood if the semidilute region for η° Is divided into two regions, i.e., the dilute and entangled regions for Je.
