4%Ni diffusion alloyed steel powder is widely used for high strength sintered parts such as transmission parts of automobile, because of high strength in both conditions of as-sintered and heat-treated after sintering. However, it has a problem that increase of manufacturing cost of iron-based sintered parts due to price increase of alloying elements. A new developed low-alloyed steel powder "JIP®5CRA", containing 0.5mass% Cr, 0.2mass% Mn, and 0.2mass% Mo, has achieved high performance at low cost. Therefore, it is expected that 5CRA would be applied to automobile parts. In this paper, tensile strength, impact value and hardness of sintered and heat-treated specimens are described compared with 4%Ni diffusion alloyed material.
