Numerical and experimental studies on three-dimensional water on deck with a modified wigley model

Three-dimensional numerical simulations on strongly nonlinear ship-wave interaction are carried out on a modified Wigley model and the results are compared to an experiment. Systematic experiments on such model have been performed in the towing tank of RIAM for the validation purpose of the CFD code. The numerical method used for the computation is a CIP based Cartesian grid method. A high efficient interface capturing scheme, the THINC scheme, is applied to the present computation. The performance of THINC scheme is discussed on a two-dimensional computation of a dam breaking problem. In the computation with the modified Wigley model, the results for two drafts, standard draft and shallow draft, are presented and comparison between the results using two interface capturing schemes, the THINC scheme and the CIP scheme, are made.
