Mirrorless laser emission, which is dependent on the geometrical structure of the anodic porous, was observed in pyrromethene 597-loaded anodic porous alumina. The observed lasing wavelength was consistent with the edge of the photonic bandgap of the anodic porous alumina. It was shown that the position of the lasing wavelength from the fluorescent dye-loaded anodic porous alumina can be tuned by changing the geometrical structures of the anodic porous alumina. The results confirm that the lasing originates from the periodic structure of the nanohole arrays in the anodic porous alumina.
