Ce-doped LnMnO3 ( Ln = La, Nd) films fabricated by laser molecular beam epitaxy technique were examined with the intention being to investigate the effect of the ionic radius of A-site cation on the physical properties. The realization of electron-doped manganites using La1-xCexMnO3 systems was found to be difficult even for thin films due to self-hole doping effects caused by cation vacancies and/or over oxidization. It was found that there is significant difference between La1-xCexMnO3 and Nd1-xCexMnO3 films in the microstructural and magnetic properties, indicating that Ce-doping into perovskite manganites can be enhanced by altering A-site cation.
