N2 - A case of ulcerative colitis complicated by Wilson's disease is described. In this case, ulcerative colitis occurred 12 years after the diagnosis of Wilson's disease, and the colitis was intractable to prednisolone and salazosulfapyridine. Because copper is one of the trace elements necessary for antioxidant defenses during inflammatory process, altered copper metabolism may have contributed to the intractability of the ulcerative colitis in this case.
