Abstract
The viscosity of melts from the Bi2O3-B 2O3-SiO2 system has been measured in the temperature range of 973-1473 K. The effect of composition on viscosity was investigated. The viscosity of the melt was found to decrease linearly with increasing Bi2O3 content. Comparisons with PbO-B 2O3-SiO2 ternary melts were carried out. Empirical equations to estimate viscosity from chemical composition were proposed.
