Abstract

The data obtained show that the water moving upward by capillarity through the soil profile transfer soluble ions from the lower depths. Evaporation takes place just below the soil surface, where soluble salts tend to accumulate. The concentration of the soil solution increased drastically by precipitation of some soluble species. The cation exchange process is found to be influenced by the water chemistry in the vadose zone to a great extent. -from Authors
