The mesoporous C12A7 mesocrystalline microcubes were successfully prepared via the topotactic synthesis approach, which could be a versatile platform for fabricating mesoporous inorganic mesocrystals. The single-phase C3AH6 is separated into Ca(OH)2 (to CaO afterward) and C12A7 by means of the spinodal decomposition on heating, giving rise to the cocontinuous mesoporous structure in a cubic mesocrystal after removing the byproducts. The mesopore size can be tuned simply by varying calcination temperature and/or duration time. The catalytic study reveals that the mesoporous C12A7 microcubes can work out as a good support for Ru catalyst even without reduction.
