Abstract
To try to understand the photochemical smog formation mechanism in the atmospheric environment, a series of field observations covering the Tokyo Metropolitan Area were conducted. Between the summer of 1978 and 1982 various flight patterns and meteorological observations were designed to provide appropriate data for determining both the horizontal and vertical pollutants profiles. The results showed that the behaviour of the photochemical polluted air mass is directly related to the local wind circulation system. (from authors' abstract)
