    Abstract

A compact supersonic jet fluorometer using a xenon arc lamp has been applied as the detection system for evolved gas analysis (EGA). The fluorescence intensities of anthracene, 9-methylanthracene, 9, 1O-dimethylanthracene, and their mixture were detected as a function of the vaporization temperature. The limit of detection was of the order of 10 µ9 for each compound. Selective detection of anthracene and 9-methylanthracene in the mixture of three compounds was possible.
