Abstract

Neutron source properties of the 1H(11B,n)11C reaction were measured for incident 11B energies between 50 and 64 MeV by detecting the neutrons at angles of 0° to 40°. Neutron were produced with high monochromaticity in the range of several MeV to 12 MeV. In addition, the room background is very low because they were collimated to a forward cone according to the kinematical condition. Therefore, this reaction was proved to be a desirable monoenergetic neutron source in the "gap" region and was applied successfully to the neutron physics research at the JAERI tandem accelerator.
