N2 - We study the dynamical propensity of the β relaxation using the two-dimensional molecular dynamics simulation of the binary soft-sphere model. The correlative motion of particles and the dynamical heterogeneity in the β relaxation time regime is studied in detail with the correlation function CMi (t), which has previously been introduced by us and found to be an effective measure of vector-like correlative motions of particles among surrounding particles. It is found that the correlation is enough long-lived and long-ranged to bring significant system-size dependence of the mean-squared displacements in the intermediate time region of our concern.
