Abstract
Flexural vibrations on account of their role in wire disintegration were analyzed. It was suggested that the buckling instability developed in the initially straight clamped wire will lead to the wire breaking for reasonable parameters before the wire temperature reaches the melting point. Longitudinal component of the stress tensor was observed to be strongest. It was found that the flexural modes resulting from buckling instability in the wire with clamped ends inevitably lead to the breaking of the wire.
