Abstract

The magnetic properties of Gd1-xYxMn2Ge2 were investigated. The competition of Mn-Mn, Gd-Mn exchange interactions originates a number of phase transitions. The samples with x ≤ 0.4 exhibit a metaniagnetic transition. The first-order phase transition from antiferro- to collinear ferrimagnetic phase for x≤ 0.2 was detected. The Gd sublattice ferromagnetically orders in the antitcrromagnctic Mn sublattice for x = 0.5. Both kind of transitions coexist for x = 0.3-0.4.
