    Abstract

The dielectric permittivity of a grease lubricant was evaluated in an EHD rolling contact. Two lubricants were tested, i.e., a NLGI2-grade grease, RLS2 (urea thickener), and the synthetic base oil, PAD1450, used in the composition of the grease. The grease had lower permittivity in the EHD contact than the base oil and this decreased with pressure.
