Abstract

The authors investigated the relevance between aft hull frame lines and second overshoot angles in 10°/10° zig-zag manoeuvre, and developed the numerical simulation method to remove the effect of fuel saving devices on overshoot angles so as to investigate the relevance only between aft frame lines and second overshoot angles. From the comparison of the characteristics of plural ship's aft frame lines, waterline volume coefficient Cwv and bottom volume coefficient Cbv were adopted as the parameters of sensitivity analysis. Consequently, the authors propose the measures of modifying aft frame lines for reducing the second overshoot angle from the result of sensitivity analysis result between Cwv/Cbv and second overshoot angles.
