Abstract

Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) has developed the working AVU "MR-X1" in order to conduct light work such as setting/collecting instruments that are placed in the seafloor autonomously. And now, it is also used as the testbed to apply new advanced technologies for an underwater vehicle. Recently, it achieved various experimental works with such technologies. And the development of it is has been progressed to improve its performance and new technologies. In this paper, the outline of MR-X1 and some newly-developed technologies are described. And sea trials carried out in recent are reported.
