Abstract

It is theoretically shown that the tensor analyzing powers of the (→d, 2He) reaction contain essentially the same nuclear infrrmation as (→N, →N polarization transfer observables [1]. Considering its unique selectivities, ΔS =1, ΔT = 1 and ΔTZ = +1, the (→d, 2He) reaction should be a useful tool for the study of spin-dipole state, particularly in identifying Jπ (2-, 1- and 0-). To confirm this point experimentally, Axx, Ayy and Ay of the 12C(→d, 2He) 12B reaction have been measured at Ed = 270 MeV utilizing the newly constructed polarized ion source at RIKEN.
