Abstract
An experimental study has been performed on the spray cooling of hot surfaces in the range of mass velocity of water of 0.0162 approximately 0.1737 [kg/(m2·s)] with four different full cone nozzles. Heat transfer characteristics below surface superheating of 500 [K] were investigated, and the effect of subcooling of sprayed water on the heat flux was also examined. An experimental correlation for the heat transfer effectiveness η = qw/[W(CplΔTsub + L + CpvΔTsat)] in the region associated with film boiling was obtained.
