N2 - Imogolite is a hydrous aluminosilicate nanofiber with the general formula of [SiO2 · Al2O3 · 2H2O]. It forms a hollow nanotube with an external diameter of ca. 2.5 nm, an internal diameter of less than 1 nm, and lengths ranging from several hundred nanometers to several micrometers. This chapter describes the synthesis and properties of imogolite, along with its application to nanohybrids with polymers.
