Abstract

The stretching of megabase-sized deoxyribonucleic acid molecules by tuning electric-field frequency was studied. Combination of optimal conditions for the stretching process and maintenance of the stretched conformation helped in accomplishing the efficient stretching method. It was found that any sized DNA could be maintained in stretched conformation under a 10 Hz ac field.
