N2 - The sound transmission through a wooden plate was measured using a small acoustical box, and the sound transmission loss was analyzed. It was proven that the sound transmission loss theoretically can be predicated and measured by a simple technique. However, resonance occurred within a low-frequency for small-sized specimens, so that the measured values were different from the results obtained by the JIS (Japanese Industry Standard). If the sound transmission is corrected using Suzuki's theory, the results are similar to those obtained by the JIS. Moreover, the dimensions of the box used in the experiment were very small so that the resonance of the air inside the box also must be taken into consideration. In this case, the values measured at a low-frequency showed tendencies similar to the analytical results by Iwasige and Lyon.
