Abstract

Solubilities of volatile hydrocarbons, n-octane, n-nonane, n-decane, benzene, toluene, m-xylene, and mesitylene, in molten polystyrene were determined by gas chromatography in the temperature range from 150 to 225°C. On the basis of the thermodynamic relation between solubility and temperature, the heats of solution for these hydrocarbons were obtained.
