N2 - For measurement of the promoter activity and regulation within single bacterial cells, we constructed various types of the cell chip. After gelation of portions of E. coli culture wihin the cell chip, we have succeeded, for the first time, the real-time single-bacterial cell assay of promoter activity. Here we applied this newly developed system for measurement of the activity and regulation of E. coli gcl promoter.
