Abstract

We investigated the effect of the background thermal motion on the knock-on ion production and phenomena induced by such ions. In this work it was found that the simple source strength formulated previously by Ryutov, Helander and Lisak is valid to DT fusion plasma. An alternative method of diagnosing α-particles, which operates with the knock-on phenomena and γ-ray detection technique, was also discussed. It was pointed out for the first time that the behavior of α-particles during slowing-down could be diagnosed by detecting 0.981-MeV γ-rays emitted in nuclear reaction between knock-on tritons and 6Li admixture.
