Abstract

As a response to the comment by Stöger-Pollach, we discuss the effect of the grain boundary segregation of oxygen on the local magnetic moment at the grain boundary in iron based on ab initio calculations. Oxygen at the grain boundary enhanced the local magnetic moment. The amount of the oxygen segregated at the grain boundary was estimated to be 0.4 at.%. Therefore, we conclude that the increase in the local magnetic moment can be attributed to the grain boundary structure rather than the oxygen segregation.
