Abstract
It is important to control the concentration of hydrogen isotopes as impurities included in Li by Y hot trap for the International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility (IFMIF). Impurities limit goals in IFMIF are determined as <10 wppm for D, and <1 wppm for T to realize safety and stability of Li flow. In order to demonstrate the effective operation of Y hot trap and give actual proof based on experimental data, an experimental study is performed under Li fluidized conditions simulating IFMIF. D recovery down to 10 wppm is demonstrated under fluidized Li conditions, where only D is included in Li. In addition, since there is possibility in that N in Li contaminates Y surfaces, influence of N included in Li is investigated to clarify recovery performance of Y hot trap. It was proved that Y hot trap can work effectively even in real IFMIF conditions to achieve the goal of Li purity limit necessary for its operation.
