    Abstract

The relation between microstructures and hardness are investigated in the mechanically milled Fe-(O-6.3)mass%C alloys. The strengthening mechanism in severely deformed Fe-C alloy is discussed in relation to grain-refining strengthening. The powders are put into stainless steel pot with 300 pieces of steel balls of 10mm diameter, and then mechanically milled for various times in an Ar gas atmosphere with a planetary ball milling apparatus.
