Abstract

A novel type of ionic-electronic conductor, yttrium-doped barium zirconate (BZY)-Fe2O3 composite, has been studied in this research, and the effect of the mixing ratio of BZY and Fe2O3 and sintering temperature on the conductivity was investigated. It was found that the sintered BZY-Fe2O3 pellets with different weight ratios exhibited electronic conductivity at room temperature, though single Fe2O3 and BZY did not exhibit high conductivity at room temperature. When the BZY-Fe2O3 composite with weight ratio of 10:70 was sintered at 1400°C in air for 12 hours, the conductivity of BZY-Fe2O3 composite was 20.3 S/m under 380°C.
