Abstract
A report is presented for a trial to fabricate powder-metallurgy (PM) processed Nb//3Sn wires in an industrial scale with a relatively low production cost. The fabrication has been attempted for two kinds of test wires: (i) PM processed Nb//3Sn wires with a relatively high Nb content to utilize them at high fields in place of bronze processed Nb//3Sn wires, and (ii) PM processed Nb//3Sn wires with a relatively low Nb content to utilize them for ac in place of NbTi multifilamentary wires. A discussion is presented on the expecting merit and demerit of PM processed Nb//3Sn wires for the above-mentioned two kinds of applications.
