Abstract

This study was performed in order to examine the prevalence of periodontal disease in patients with Yusho. The pocket depth was measured at the mesial surface of six teeth of each. Subsequently radiographic examination was carried out to observe the condition of marginal bone resorption. The results were as follows: 24.5% of the examined teeth had periodontal pockets on the mesial surface. 56.4% of the patients had at least one tooth with a periodontal pocket. Periodontal disease was found in males rather than in females. Patients aged between forty and sixty had a high incidence of periodontal disease. Even in patients in their twenties and thirties, severe periodontal disease was found.
