Abstract

Bilayer-forming ammonium amphiphiles which contain the azobenzene chromophore form stable monolayers on aqueous solutions of negatively charged polymers. Y-type multilayers are deposited at 30 mN m-1 by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. Absorption spectra showed Davydov splitting, suggesting regular orientation of azobenzene chromophores in LB films.
