N2 - In order to produce the comfortable engine sound, estimation of the engine sound and evaluate its sound quality in the early design stage are essential to conduct the development of the advanced and competitive internal combustion engine. This paper presents a theoretical approach to estimate the time history of engine sound and the evaluation procedure of engine sound quality using wavelet transform technique.
