Abstract
The pattern formation process in shrinking cylindrical poly(acrylamide) gels was studied. It was observed that the elastic and the frictional properties of the membrane play critical roles in the pattern formation process in the gels. This observation indicates that the appearance of patterns in the gels depends on the solvent composition.
