Abstract

We have demonstrated a distributed-feedback plastic waveguide blue laser using Fluorescent Brightener 135 pumped by a picosecond pulse laser. The optical properties of Fluorescent Brightener 135 and its laser properties including photostability were investigated. The experimentallaser slope efficiency and energy threshold were 8.2% and 24 mJ, respectively. An operation lifetime of 5,000 shots was attained under a pump pulse energy of 28 μJ at a wavelength of 355 nm.
