Abstract
A novel photoreactive Langmuir-Blodgett film was prepared using poly(vinyl alcohol) with conjugate diolefin moiety as the side chain. The characteristics of LB film were evaluated and its high photoreactivity as a function of molecular arrangement were investigated using spectroscopic analysis. The photoreactivity of these polymers were enhanced due to the presence of excimers. The IR spectrum of irradiated LB film showed the decrease in double bonds absorption intensity. Cycloaddition of double bonds took place in the irradiated LB film forming cyclobutane rings.
