Abstract

Phase equilibria and mutual diffusion coefficients for polymer systems are reviewed. The author describes the gas chromatographic method and gravimetric method to measure the vapor-liquid equilibria of polymer systems, i.e., solubilities of gases and vapors in polymers. Further, the author shows that the UNIFAC-FV model is useful to predict the vapor-liquid equilibria. For liquid-liquid equilibria, the experimental results obtained by using cloud point method are reported. The correlated results for liquid-liquid equilibria obtained by a solution model and the UNIFAC-FV model for polystyrene systems are shown. Furthermore, the measurement and correlation for the mutual diffusion coefficients are presented.
