Abstract

To identify peptides with selective affinity for stereoregular isotactic poly(methyl methacrylate) (it-PMMA), the phage display selection using a heptamer random peptide library was carried out. After five rounds of biopanning, several phage clones with high specific affinity to it-PMMA were selected. As a result of DNA sequencing, nine kinds of it-PMMA binding phage clones were isolated. The binding affinity and specificity of these phage clones were quantitatively investigated by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. These clones not only bound to it-PMMA greater than a phage library, but showed the specific binding to it-PMMA rather than syndiotactic and atactic PMMAs.
