Abstract
We prepared a polymer-stabilized blue phase (PSBP) cell under orthogonal gradients of temperature and UV intensity for polymer-stabilization, and made a vertically and horizontally divided matrix of PSBP with different stabilization condition in a cell. Systematic evaluation of electro-optical properties in this gradient stabilization cell was achieved at 20×5 areas in the cell using a polarized imaging system by high-speed camera. Furthermore, we observed the lattice structure of PSBP in various stabilization conditions using confocal laser scanning microscopy at a temperature where PSBP showed an isotropic phase, and found significant correlations between electro-optical properties and lattice structure.
