Abstract
Microparticles weakly adsorbed at interfaces show random Brownian motion by thermal fluctuation. However, in the case that fluctuation is given to the particles placed on microscopically asymmetric periodic potential, they also move asymmetrically. We aim to induce asymmetric translational motion of adsorbed microparticles on microscopically asymmetric periodic potential through transducing their fluctuation by alternating electric field. As a first step, we prepared a uniaxially-oriented liquid crystal thin films which are stable in water by the polymer stabilizing liquid crystal spin-coated on polyimide interface which is rubbed in one direction.
