Abstract

A hybrid-emulsion experiment was conducted to study a double-hyperfragment event and to calculate the binding energies of double hypernuclei. The 6λλHe hypernucleus constituting the lightest closed shell structure containing baryons was studied. The experiment was conducted at the KEK proton synchrotron using the 1.66 GeV/c separated laser beams. The experiment identified the sequential decay of the hypernucleus; and measured its mass and interaction energy. Results of the experiment showed that the λλ interaction was weakly attractive.
