Abstract
We tried to blend Nylon 46 and Poly (phenylene sulfide) (PPS) in the molten state under vacuum without using a reactive compatibilizer. These polymers could not be blended and PPS particles were dispersed in the sample obtained under Ar atmosphere. But these polymers could be blended uniformly under vacuum without using a reactive compatibilizer. The water-absorption property of a sample prepared under vacuum was improved compared with those of samples prepared under Ar atmosphere. No information about intermolecular interactions including chemical reactions in the sample prepared under vacuum could be obtained from the results of FT-IR and DSC.
