N2 - As for the static ore pressure, it can be evaluated with adequate accuracy by the explicit formula by classification rule. But as for the dynamic ore pressure, the exact calculation procedure has not been proposed yet. The purpose of this study is to clarify the static and dynamic ore pressure by utilizing the distinct element method (DEM) that can track the behavior of individual ore particles. We developed the calculation program considering the coupling effect of ore particle motion and the ship structure deformation utilizing DEM and FEM. At first, the accuracy of calculation results by DEM was confirmed by comparing with the ore pressure obtained by CSR in static condition. Next, the dynamic ore pressure, which was not able to catch up by the previous theoretical formula, was calculated by the coupling analysis of ore particles and hull structure for typical Panamax Bulk Carrier. In order to evaluate the ore pressure exactly, it is necessary to consider the typical behavior of ore particle, such as bridging of particles in the vicinity of hull corner and tightening and condensing of particles under cyclic ship motion. And the deformation of hull structure by the ore pressure must be taken into account to examine the ore pressure.
