Abstract
In this paper a finite difference method based on the CIP (Constrained Interpolation Profile) method is proposed for the extreme wave-body interaction problems. Two-dimensional numerical simulations on the non-linear wave generation with a plunger-type wave maker are carried out by the method. The computed results about time history of wave profiles generated by a wedge type wave maker and the hydrodynamic forces acting on both a wedge type and an ellipse type wave maker are compared with the experimental data and the potential flow results by a nonlinear BEM method. Most of the comparisons are in good agreement. As an application of the numerical wave tank, a numerical simulation of a box-type floating body with an upper structure in a large-amplitude nonlinear wave is presented.
