Abstract
In this paper, a new method to detect failure modes for dynamical systems is proposed, taking an aircraft flight path control system as an example. The method is based on the system identification theory to estimate the changes in dynamical properties of the system. Failure mode indices based on the robust control theory are also introduced to exhibit the nature of the failure occurring in the system. Finally, a numerical simulation is conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
