N2 - Differential cross sections at θlab between 0° and 15° and the polarization transfer DNN at zero degrees for the 27Al, 90Zr, 208Pb(p, n) reactions are measured at a bombarding energy of 295 MeV. A multipole decomposition (MD) technique is applied to extract L = 0, L = 1, and L ≥ 2 contributions to the cross sections. The summed Gamow-Teller strength B(GT) is compared with shell-model calculations for the 27Al(p, n) and 90Zr(p, n) reactions. The usefulness of the polarization transfer observable in the MD analysis is discussed.
