Multiple magnetic phase transitions of Gd1-xLaxMn2Ge2

The magnetic properties of the Gd1-xLaxMn2Ge2 system with the ThCr2Si2 type structure were investigated for x = 0-0.1. The magnetic phase diagram is presented. Compounds with x ≤ 0.04 exhibit double transitions: ferrimagnetic, antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases appear with increasing temperature. It has been revealed that a thermally induced ferrimagnetic phase appears at high temperatures for 0.04 < x < 0.08. High field measurements revealed a metamagnetic transition for all compounds.
